This self-paced CPD certified E-Learning course is aimed at introducing the principles of consequence modelling and EFFECTS user interface. The training will provide an overview of all the models available within the software: release, pool evaporation, fire, explosion, dispersion, damage, and combined models over 13 units.
The course provides a general theoretical background that is consolidated with multiple practical exercises that will be presented during the course. Participants are required to practice and apply their new knowledge of the software through hands-on exercises.
You must complete EFFECTS training before starting RISKCURVES training.
Overview
Gexcon is proud to introduce the latest addition to our training portfolio: the EFFECTS E-Learning course.
Gexcon’s EFFECTS E-Learning supports competence development for process safety professionals responsible for consequence modelling and risk-informed decision-making. This on-demand training removes scheduling constraints while delivering consistent, high-quality instruction.
The 13-module course covers essential theory, modelling principles, simulations, and practical exercises with built-in knowledge checks. Learners can complete the full programme or select relevant modules to strengthen their ability to use EFFECTS accurately and defensibly in process safety and regulatory contexts.
Whether you want full mastery or to focus on specific topics, EFFECTS E-Learning equips you with the skills and confidence to become a competent EFFECTS user.
Key Benefits of EFFECTS E-Learning:
Immediate Access & Flexibility
- On-demand training removes delays associated with scheduled classroom courses
- Learn at your own pace, from any location, without operational disruption
Process Safety Competence
- Builds a strong understanding of consequence and effects modelling principles
- Reinforces correct model selection, assumptions, and interpretation of results
- Supports consistent and defensible use of EFFECTS in safety studies
Practical, Applied Learning
- Combines theory with recorded demonstrations, simulations, and hands-on exercises
- Knowledge checks ensure understanding and practical capability, not just familiarity
- Focus on real process safety scenarios and workflows

This course is the recorded virtual classroom version of the RISKCURVES training.
The RISKCURVES training follows the EFFECTS training and provides information about what a “Quantitative Risk Assessment” (QRA) actually consists of, which risk criteria can be used, and of course how to conduct it using RISKCURVES. The training provides extensive information regarding RISKCURVES’ functionality and how to apply the software in QRA studies.
This course builds on concepts covered in EFFECTS training. Completion of EFFECTS training is therefore MANDATORY prior to starting this course.
